dragons and the endlessness
it starts with a tiny
a lonely little seed
that explodes into colour
but, don't be greedy
the tiny and the lonely
have a rooted subservient need
or subversive and pervasive
and persuasively bleeding
there's love and there's fear
in this garden, call it a bed
but complacency and stoicism
overwhelms any dread
and any fire any passion
any drowning with doubt
any wrinkle in the face
beyond a smile or a pout
this cold bed of misery
this clockwork tableau
is a story
is a fiction
is a falsehood
is a show
and then BOOM
the tiny little lonely i didn't even know i knew
is you in my periphery
is you
and my litany of shame falls and folds away
with the very naming of your name
with each and every day
and i thought i never knew you
i was convinced i never cared
i thought i did you better
i put it in a letter
every shackle, every fetter
every fetish, fear and feather
still i never dared
all i wanted was to fly
i just wanted to be free
but then that never was

Waves of Chi
And then it's you dearest lovely with your hands upon my head
And we're riding the waves of chi falling over and around your bed
but in a flash the systems take focus
and zero in on nothing
and the hero inside me is bluffing
hocus pocus like she knows
and there are colours all around her
and then the story unfolds
and the meaning is lost
within the secrets that she told
there's the element of madness
and the question of desire
rears its beautiful-ugly head
higher ever higher
and movement is only possible
when all the pieces work in tandem
but the random nature of the infinite
thrusts two and two together
and the patterns break and reform
and the moment lasts forever
and we lie here lost, except to each other
at the end of the longest day
and our mouths are filled with words
that we'll never, ever say
(or say away)
the infinite spins endlessly
around the tiny particles of you and me
though we're no longer who we thought we were
or what we wanted to be
and i've discovered the grime

Chapter One
Precession as a form of parallel transport
When Shostakovich married the two musical elements of Western European classical music and Judaic folk music he was juxtaposing two cultural icons in order to express something iconoclastic. The creation of the beautiful Symphony No. 9 was borne out of intense pain and grief; the expression of a world gone mad with power, anger, rage and hate. And yet his response, with its sadness and beauty and pain and the bitter twist of irony seems somehow more appropriate than, for example, Gwar. Even though on the face of it screaming power chords and a hefty rage-filled yell of chaos seems to suit the holocaust in a much more fitting manner.
Coming out of the lecture theatre, Annie, her head bowed in thought, walked headlong into one of her students. She bounced back from the wall of human and looked up and further up trying to find the face. They were still an agglomeration this early in the year. Three hundred first years, she cou

they'll come for me 2
The City. Humming, buzzing, like a kid on Ritalin. Cars and traffic jams. Consumers and shoplifters. Everybody buying, eating, taking, needing. Road-raged and screaming. The tickety-tack tickety-tack of heels on the sidewalk. sunlight sliced into a thousand pieces through the grid of buildings. Downtown. Uptown. Crosstown. Bass-bu-bu-bu from a hatchback in one ear and Mozart from a giftshop in the other. Schizoid psychopolis. The whole place is one massive, self-enabling, crazy monster.
And Chloe is poised on its brink.
Right now it is that time between dusk and twilight when there's a stillness reminiscent of the massive of the moments before a storm hits. The air is a breath held in the lungs of the city. Office workers, those daytime troops of administration and bureaucracy have evacuated their posts and the clubs and pubs are awaiting their transformation into the winers and diners of parallel industries. Their primping and preprandials are underway In the meantime, the city's only

Chloe hears footsteps echoing down the corridor and opens her eyes.
The first thing she sees is the body of a young man lying broken, bloodied and lifeless on the cold hard floor and she feels like she's looking over the edge of an abyss into the hole where her heart used to be.  She feels like she's been shot.
She's kneeling on white marble tiles wearing nothing but a white cotton nightgown.  It's decorated with small embroidered stars
